By becoming the Official Partner and equipment manufacturer of the French club GameWard, the French textile brand takes its first steps in esports.
According to an estimate by the specialized analytics company Newzoo, e-sport (or electronic sports) was expected to generate more than a billion dollars in revenue worldwide in 2020. In France, 7.3 million people engage in esports (*). Attracting younger generations, this buoyant market has already attracted Nike, Puma and Adidas. Le Coq sportif, which has been accompanying athletes for one hundred and thirty years, continues its expansion and evolves with new sports technologies by signing a new textile line.
Made in France, made in Troyes
The outfits were imagined and made in the Aube region, in the historic workshops of Romilly sur Seine. The blue jerseys, sleeves highlighted in red and white, are simple and timeless. The logos of GameWard and Du Coq Sportif seal the partnership. A textile line has also been designed to accompany players and staff during competitions.
GameWard, one of the most successful French structures in the esports scene
GameWard is a professional esports club that acts as its own media. It operates as a professional club since February 2018 and is positioned on 4 games: League of Legends, Fortnite, TeamfightTactics and Trackmania. GameWard has also been calling on Julien Benneteau as an expert and sports director for the past year. It is the first French esports structure resident in a city, Boulogne-Billancourt.
Even though the International Olympic Committee refused to include the practice of esports in the Olympic disciplines, esports has entered the dictionary and its rise is irresistible.
