The operational unit of the Chantiers de l'Atlantique dedicated to marine energies will provide two offshore electrical substations for a wind farm in the German North Sea.
Third time's the charm! This is the third contract of Atlantic Offshore Energy with the German energy group RWE, after Arkona in Germany (2018) and Few Baltic II in Poland (2022). With an estimated amount of several hundred million euros, this order, the largest for export, supports timely efforts for European industrial sovereignty and the decarbonization of the energy mix.
Nordsee Cluster
This mega wind project includes a hundred turbines. The complex, located 50km north of the island of Juist in the North Sea, has four parks. It is part of the remarkable dynamics of offshore wind power in Germany and will be controlled remotely via the BorWin 6 HVDC station.
Two construction phases
In 2026, 44 turbines with a capacity of 660 MW will be installed at the Nordsee2 and Godewind substations. Commissioning is scheduled for early 2027. The Norsee and Norsee Delta parks will have 60 wind turbines 40 km from the East Frisian Islands. Commercial operation is planned for 2029.
A virtuous contract for the territory
Frédéric Grizaud, Director of Atlantique Offshore Energy, is delighted: "This signing is excellent news (...). We will continue the ongoing recruitment (nearly 100 positions open this year) and strengthen our partnerships with local actors. We hope that the current effervescence of this renewable energy sector will attract talents and new collaboration opportunities". With five substations under construction in its order book, the Business Unit has visibility on its activity until 2026!
