Naval Group has a clear view all the way to 2050! Florence Parly, Minister of the Armed Forces, has just announced the launch of the third-generation ballistic missile nuclear submarine programme (SNLE 3G) for the French Navy.
A reference industrial partner in the service of French sovereignty
This program to renew the submarines of the Strategic Ocean Force is a major challenge for Naval Group: one hundred million hours of work, including fifteen million hours of design and more than eighty million hours of construction. is heavy! The first submarine in the series will be operational by 2035. Three more submarines will then be delivered at the rate of one vessel every five years.
A new generation of submarines
These four missile-launching nuclear submarines will serve the operational needs of the French Navy related to the French deterrent posture for the decades 2030 to 2090. More stealthy and better equipped, they will gradually replace the ships of the second generation that will be withdrawn from active service in the 2030 and 2040 decades.
One of the most complex industrial products ever made
Naval Group benefits from a unique positioning of system architect-integrator and is committed to the performance of these armed ships while ensuring responsibility for their realization and ensuring control of quality, deadlines and costs. "We are aware of our responsibility and we will make every effort, as previous generations have done, to provide France with the tool of its sovereignty," says Naval Group CEO Pierre-Eric Pommellet.
A windfall for all Naval Group sites
Cherbourg, Nantes, Angoulême, Ollioules, Lorient, Brest: most of the Naval Group sites will be mobilized for the implementation of this program. The Cherbourg site will conduct design and construction activities. More than 200 companies from the industrial and technological defense bases located throughout France will be directly mobilized.
