The new Cherbourg's park's rose garden is the only one that collects the 67th kinds of Normandy's roses.
A study revealed that there were 700 kind of roses in Normandy, but only 70 of them sill exist... 63 of them are blooming and are visible in Cherbourg , but 4 others are still in growth culture.
It was during a botanical event ( The blooming peninsula – «La presqu'ile en fleurs ») in Ravalets' Castle (on the Channel) that Dominique Poirier, town's green spaces manager, met Daniel Lemonnier, the author of «Livre des roses» and the idea took place !
